ED, don't be so sensitive all I asked was would you care to speculate. And why is it a stupid question because "we will never know"?

We will never know how Moyes would be doing if he had stayed on with a £100M kitty but that has not stopped you from speculating in comparison with Pellegrini has it?

Are you one of those insecure people who does not like being questioned?

What a stupid fucking question. You want the answer to a question which no one could ever know.

Well, let's judge everything on it's merits. I reckon a manager who has won 9 trophies, managed at the very top level in Europe consistently for over a decade, and who has won the Premier League, would have done better than David Moyes.

I tell you what I can say about it though with absolute certainty, it would have been a hell of a lot more entertaining.

Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
comma wants judge on a manager that has us playing the way we've always appreciated.

Says more about him than Pellegrini.

The difference with Pellegrini is he will probably admit he's not the best nor interested at getting the best out of a rabble at clubs with a tight budget, he likes to be involved at clubs where it is actually about playing the game the way it should and they (the club) are willing to invest in getting in the players who will excel in his system and turn the club into a proposition for these types of player to join. Pardew/Moyes etc are all about getting a group of average players to play above their station in order to get some results together and see what happens from there often swapping their systems to suit how shit the players they have at hand.

He's not a 'paper over the cracks' manager but one who likes to go in identify the sort of players who can do well in his style of playing in each and every position.

We're lucky to have him and he seems to be the first manager under this ownership who has their trust (although lets see the next summer window's budget).

Whilst you two are at it care to speculate about how Pellegrini would have done last season if he had turned up, instead of Moyes, to replace Bilic on a six month contract?

Are they missing out the respective trophy cabinets of each man?

and I couldn't give a shit about trophies, glory or Europe. just playing decent football and a team that looks like it's trying is enough, and that's what he's delivering. we all know it never lasts though and shit is just around the corner :.)

Ten more years, ten more years, Pellegrini,
He plays football the West Ham Way!

Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
because you're clinging on to a manager who couldn't even get the best out of a squad at man utd that cost hundreds of millions, but using an argument that all he needed to transform us was £100m

100m worth of Harry Arters and Tom Cairneys. Marquee signing Danny Drinkwater.

No thanks.

Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
As others have said, we will have some bad results over the next few months, but by the summer Pellegrini will know exactly what needs to be done and what it will cost. And he'll have hopefully built enough trust to be allowed to get on with it.

Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
I think it must make it easier for owners to bite the bullet on a £100m+ summer transfer kitty, when they have someone of the calibre of Pellegrini to entrust it to. We will start next season with a top six manager, squad, budget, attendance, expectations - and corresonding pressure. But this guy can handle it.

Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
I neither like or dislike the man and what’s that got to do with my judgement of him as a manager anyway?

We have beaten four teams that we should have because we have a squad better than theirs. Pardew won more in a row than that but he ended up leaving us threatened with relegation. All I’m asking is that we need more time to make a fair and balanced judgement of a manager.

Oh and to me so far anyone making a comparison of Moyes and Pellegrini and not acknowledging the money spent is missing something fundamental out.

Takashi Miike 3:33 Thu Dec 20

you said the only difference between him and moyes was £100m, so I'd say you don't particularly like him as they couldn't be more different in regard to football philosophy

No sane balanced individual would judge a manager on a game by game basis......or would they?

what, like winning four games on the trot?

Sir Alf 3:26 Thu Dec 20
Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
I too am ashamed to say I had some real doubts after those first 4 games that Pellegrini's heart was in it and if it was just about money. I was completely wrong.

As mentioned by others, we will have some bad patches again this season because he still does not have the depth of quality player he wants in all areas of the squad ( full backs and central midfield comes to mind).

In fact before Arsenal, this Saturday will be a test. Arguably Watford are better than the last 4 teams we have faced, they have a pacy, strong midfield ( something we have struggled with for a while) and will relish playing on the counter attack. But even if we lose, so long as we keep playing the same way I am not so worried as I used to be under previous managers.

Quite simply, Pellegrini has a plan and philiosophy and looks over time to get or develop players to fit it. In the past it seemed we relied on luck getting the right players in and ones that might be able to work well together and lets be honest we have relied on individuals more than the "sum of the parts" team strength?

As a man, he is humble, willing to be wrong and more importantly shows wisdom when he says he is "still learning" :-)

Fingers crossed he can get us to the proverbial "next level" again next year? FOr me, not flirting with relegation every year is one level up but a real step forward would be to make the top 8 most years and be in the Europa, able to give the top 4 a decent game etc.

Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
ED, you might be unaware bu when managing a football team it’s what you are doing currently not what you did in the past that counts ( ask Mourinho ). That’s why, though I’m optimistic, I prefer to wait to judge Pellegrini.

Oh and if in your dystopian world proof of love of a manger is evidenced by a refusal to continually exaggeratedly condemn someone then you are correct. As it is for me both managers did a job, a fact which sticks in some people’s craws.

Eerie Descent 3:07 Thu Dec 20
Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
Well, it's a bit easier with regards to judging him when you consider what he has done consistently over the rest of his career.

The man is a serial winner. He has managed Valencia, Real Madrid and Man City amongst others. The fact we are getting better every week, despite a ridiculous injury list, is reason for even the most miserable of cunts (or even those who loved BORING DULLARD MANAGERS like Allardyce and Moyes such as yourself, comma) to recognise that this is not some chancer hitting a lucky run of games.

, 2:50 Thu Dec 20
Re: Pellegrini interview from Telegraph
In footballing terms we need to reserve judgement for minimally a season and a half. After all Bilic got off to a flyer then lost his way. The big test for me is can Pellegrini persuade the owners to a similar squad enhancement for consecutive seasons.

Unlike our run of previous managers he seems dignified to me.
